Regulated professions (Regulirani poklici)

WHAT

Before you start working in Slovenia, it is important to know whether or not your profession is regulated. A regulated profession is one that legally requires specific professional qualifications (education, exam or licence) in order to be performed. If your profession is regulated, you will have to meet the required criteria, e.g. official education recognition in Slovenia for education acquired abroad before you start working.

A list of all regulated professions and professional activities in Slovenia is available at:

http://www.reguliranipoklici.si/

You can also check the European Commission Regulated Professions Database:

At the website of the Ministry of Education, Science, and Sport (Ministrstvo za izobraževanje, znanost in šport), you can read more about the mutual recognition of professional qualifications in EU member countries (in Slovenian):

HOW

If you want to work in Slovenia, you need to first verify whether or not your profession is regulated. For more information on meeting the criteria for certain professions, contact the competent authority which will give you the necessary information. Usually, professional qualifications must be recognized wholly. To have your education recognized, contact the ENIC-NARIC center at the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport (Ministrstvo za izobraževanje, znanost in šport) (in Slovenian): http://www.mizs.gov.si/si/delovna_podrocja/direktorat_za_visoko_solstvo/enicnaric_center/
