Old-age pension is the right to receive regular monthly compensation after you have reached a certain age. You are entitled to old-age pension if you were paying the pension and disability insurance for a certain number of years and have reached a certain age. Certain other conditions also apply. More information on the conditions of old-age pension is available at the website of Pension and Disability Insurance Institute of Slovenia (Zavod za pokojninsko in invalidsko zavarovanje):

GOOD TO KNOW

Pensionable service without buying additional years is generally a period when:

  • You were under the compulsory pension and disability insurance scheme (you were paying for the compulsory pension and disability insurance).
  • You were voluntarily under the compulsory insurance until 31 December 2012.
  • You were performing agricultural activity.
  • You were employed abroad and were paying for the insurance there.

Pensionable service can also be bought, but the purchased period is not considered as old-age pension.
Pensionable service includes the insurance period and the specific period based on which the conditions to the right to old-age pension and the percentage for the assessment of pension (pension amount) are determined.

The insurance period is the period when the insured was voluntarily or compulsorily under the compulsory insurance scheme and the periods when the contributions were paid.
