Vocational rehabilitation (Poklicna rehabilitacija)

WHAT

If you want to continue to work you have the right to apply for inclusion into the vocational rehabilitation process. Vocational rehabilitation will:

  • help you to return to your job
  • provide technical adaptations at your workplace according to your needs or
  • include you in an educational/ training programme where you’ll obtain a new education or vocation.

You may apply for the vocational rehabilitation only during the disability classification process. After you successfully conclude the vocational rehabilitation, you are entitled to a) Reassignment to another job or b) to Part-time work. You are eligible for vocational rehabilitation only if you were included in the Pension and disability insurance scheme before the disability occurred.

Occupational rehabilitation

WHAT

If you are insured under compulsory pension and disability insurance or you had reached certain pensionable service years and you became disabled, you have the right to occupational rehabilitation.

Vocational rehabilitation is a comprehensive process which enables insured person to be qualified for other occupation or work in order to gain corresponding employment and to reintegrate into the working environment. The right to occupational rehabilitation can be claimed by a disabled person with a II. category of disability who was younger than 50 or 55 years on the day his disability emerged and is able to be qualified for other work. The work can be performed either full-time or part-time, but at least four hours a day.
Occupational rehabilitation can be carried out by a training, education or practical work. During the occupational rehabilitation an insured person is entitled to compensation for the time of occupational rehabilitation. Between the reassignment and beginning to work in a new workplace a person has the right to temporary compensation. Rehabilitation form and method, conditions, deadlines and obligations of an insured person are determined by a contract on occupational rehabilitation.
Occupational rehabilitation should be provided by the employer who employed insured person in the time of disability emergence. In case disability emerged when a person was unemployed or was not under the insurance, occupational rehabilitation is provided by the Employment Service of Slovenia.

Employment Rehabilitation (Zaposlitvene rehabilitacije)

WHAT

If you face difficulties in the job search due to your disability and if you are registered as unemployed person, you can be included into the process of employment rehabilitation at the Employment Service of Slovenia. Programme is performed by specialized employment rehabilitation contractors.
Based on the employment rehabilitation contractor’s opinion assessment of your employability will be made in the end of the process. If the finding is that you need employment help and support, you can obtain the right to employment on sheltered workplace or the right to supported employment. In case of finding you unemployable, you obtain the right to social inclusion programme. You can apply for employment rehabilitation anytime during your unemployment period.

Supported Employment (Podporna zaposlitev)

WHAT

Supported employment enables you to be employed in ordinary work environment. You are provided with technical aid, personal assistance or other forms of aid which enable you to perform work. You are free to develop your own working methods according to your abilities. Professional support service is provided to you as well as to your employer and work environment. To assert the right you must go through the process of Employment rehabilitation and be registered in the Unemployment persons register at the Employment Service of Slovenia.

Sheltered Employment (Začitna zaposlitev)

WHAT

Sheltered employment means that you’re employed in a specialized work environment that is adjusted to your work abilities and needs. The needs and support are defined in the process of Employment rehabilitation. Providers of sheltered employment are the so-called employment centres and disabled companies. These employers provide you with technical equipment or a professional assistant during your working time.

To assert the right you must be registered in the Unemployment persons register at the Employment Service of Slovenia.

Social Inclusion Program

WHAT

When you go through the process of employment rehabilitation and it is established that you are not employable, you can join the Social Inclusion Program, which is carried out by specialized providers. In this program, you will take part in activities that are aimed to keep and develop your working abilities, you will gain working condition

In the program, you will take part in activities that are aimed at preserving and developing work skills, gaining working condition, working competences, and improving your persistence and strength. At the same time, you will develop social skills and competencies.
